This exciting celebration of film has been around since 1969, and voted one of "25 film festivals worth the entry fee" by MovieMaker Magazine. Brooks Institute named it one of top 5 film festivals in the country. Hosted in the heart of Music City, movie lovers from all across the country flock to this festival and praise the festival for its combination of big city ambiance and easy-going Southern hospitality. Being Music City, of course the signature competition is the Music Film category.

The panel is led by top music supervisors, and the festival is a prime opportunity to meet with artists , songwriters and film professionals from all over. This celebration promotes the collaboration of songwriters, artists and music industry insiders with film professionals.
Thousands of entries pour in from many countries and those are carefully whittled down to a few hundred. In 2013, there were 268 films from 49 countries, some films getting automatic consideration for an Oscar and some carrying tributes from Cannes and Sundance.
The films cross all genres from drama to animation and all categories including narrative features, shorts and documentaries.
