The Pinch District is a historical district, located in downtown Memphis bordering the Wolf River lagoon on the west. Originally the Memphis’ first commercial area and neighborhood, the Pinch District, was home to the earliest immigrant communities in Memphis. However, this area evolved over time and during the 1970s, was a target of urban renewal and remains an area of up and coming businesses. The former stadium known as the Pyramid is located around the Pinch and is a spectacle of architectural intrigue.
