The Golf Capital of Tennessee

Crossville and Cumberland County easily lay claim to being called the “Golf Capital of Tennessee.”  Situated on Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau, 9 championship golf courses await golfers of all skill levels. From Wyndham at Fairfield Glade, Tennessee’s famous vacation and retirement resort featuring 90 holes of golf, to the Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain State Park, Tennessee’s first Jack Nicklaus-designed course, the best spot for golf in Tennessee is Crossville and Cumberland County.

Southern charm, beautiful country scenery and small town heritage such as the Homestead Tower Museum await. Shopping abounds, from the Crossville Outlet Mall and antique shops to the Crossville Depot. Outdoor beauty beckons with the Cumberland Trail, Black Mountain, Obed River Park, Ozone Falls and Cumberland Mountain State Park. Wander beautiful nature trails, and enjoy the tranquility of the Cumberland Plateau.

A combination of restored buildings and new businesses in Crossville Courthouse Square gives visitors a feel of the towns history and energy. Pay tribute to our armed forces at the Military Memorial Museum, displaying uniforms, photographs and other artifacts from the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korean, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Iraq wars. The museum also features items from Camp Crossville, the German prisoner of war camp in operation during World War II.

Set against Middle Tennessees rolling hills, Cumberland County Playhouse is a theatrical force behind its double stage doors. One of the 10 largest professional theaters in rural America, the playhouse features close to 500 performances and 1,600 classes in dance, theater and music annually. Productions often highlight regional history and culture. For a different type of community entertainment, catch a show at the Palace Theatre. It hosts a variety of live music styles including jazz, blues, country, bluegrass and rock.

For a unique experience, tour one of Crossvilles two wineries. Stonehaus Winery has wines ranging from dry cabernet sauvignon to rich merlot and fruity muscadine. Arrange for a guided tour and visit the gourmet food shop of this family-owned winery, open seven days a week. Chestnut Hill Winery is one of the states largest wineries. It has a wide selection of merlot and cabernet sauvignon, and the sweet wines reflect the fruits of the region such as muscadine, peach and watermelon.
