Gibson County Courthouse

309 S. College Street
Trenton, TN 00000

During the Civil War, Nathan Bedford Forrest's men captured this important stop on the Mobile and Ohio Railroad Dec. 20, 1862. He and his men occupied the town briefly before riding on toward Union City the next day.

The earliest courthouse was a temporary hewn-log building. The present-day courthouse, built in 1899, is considered among the most handsome in the state and is in Trenton, the county seat.
