Aretha's is a fascinating place, with a fun menu, with an interesting location & history. The restaurant is in North Chattanooga, on the north shore of the Tennessee River, close to Coolidge Park and the Chattanooga Theatre Centre, with its burgeoning arts district. The flourishes--such as Tazo tea & rich chocolate milk made with Ghiradelli chocolate, apple butter on every table--are of ultimate tasteworthiness. The pancakes, biscuits with sausage gravy, and the waffles--all are delightful. Breakfast is served all day plus giant burritos and other specials for lunch and dinner. Great waffles. Shrimp and grits a must. Beautiful biscuits. Rachel Ray has been for a visit. Daily 7 am-midnight.
