Get ready to dive into two worlds of wonder and excitement at the highest rated aquarium in America. Chattanooga’s skyline showcases six magnificent glass peaks that top the Tennessee Aquarium’s River Journey and Ocean Journey experience. Begin with the freshwater exhibits in the River Journey.

The River Journey features stunning freshwater creatures and habitats from the Southeast and from around the world. Visitors can explore two living forests under glass and get face to face with giant catfish and prehistoric sturgeon. Watch river otters playing in a cove forest. An alligator and giant snapping turtle will thrill in a delta swamp. Gaze in awe at fantastic seahorses and sea dragons.

Ocean Journey takes visitors beneath the waves where 10-foot sharks, fierce barracuda and graceful stingrays glide through amazing coral formations. Visitors can commune close up at the shark and ray touch pool.

Explore the chilly world of “Penguins’ Rock,” the home of amazing gentoo and macaroni penguins. Delight as a multitude of beautiful free-flying butterflies flutter throughout a tropical garden. The weird and wonderful animals in Ocean Journey’s “Boneless Beauties” gallery include graceful jellyfish, a giant octopus and captivating cuttlefish.

Get up close to wonders of nature above and below the water. Experience two aquariums in one great city, Chattanooga. Outside the Aquarium, downtown Chattanooga offers a scenic riverfront with miles of parks and public art, all surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountains.
