Every third weekend in September, State Street in Historic Downtown Bristol, TN/VA is amped to the beat of Appalachia's past, present, and future. With more than 20 stages and over 100 artists, Bristol Rhythm prides itself on a stellar annual line-up""but downtown is the showstopper.
Bristol is congressionally designated the "Birthplace of Country Music" and home to the Bristol Sessions, the first recordings of The Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers.
Bristol's ‘Main Street USA' atmosphere provides the perfect ambience for visitors and artists; there are no hills or muddy fields, and many unique venues for fans to duck out of the elements.
Offering the finest Americana, bluegrass, country, old-time, Piedmont blues, Celtic, and progressive roots music since 2001, Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion is also among the most affordable music events of its kind in the southeast. The festival also offers a 5K Road Race/2 Mile Fun Walk, a free Children's Event, a Chili Cook-off, workshops, and much more.
BRRR achieved ‘Best Festival' from Southeast Festivals & Events Association in 2014 and won the coveted Shining Example Festival of the Year Award in 2010 from Southeast Tourism Society. The event has also earned numerous Pinnacle Awards for Special Events from Northeast Tennessee Tourism Association.
The Birthplace of Country Music Museum, open August 1, 2014, is within the festival's footprint, telling the nuanced story of the Bristol Sessions through state-of-the-art, interactive technology.
