Step back in time and visit the 18th-century home of Daniel and Sarah Smith, one of the founding families of Tennessee. Daniel Smith acted as surveyor for the frontier, produced the state's first map and is credited with naming the state of Tennessee. The home features late eighteenth-century antiques and original pieces that belonged to the Smith family. Located on scenic Old Hickory Lake, this 18-acre property offers much to explore. Join us for a tour of the Smith family home, explore the historic smokehouse or family cemetery, experience the aromas of the herb garden, wander through the wooded nature trail, browse the Gift Shop and Visitor's Center, or enjoy a lakeside stroll. As one of the first permanent homes in Middle Tennessee, Historic Rock Castle is an invaluable heritage asset and will provide visitors with unforgettable memories!
