The White Lightning Trail, a Discover Trails & Byways initiative of the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development, starts here at Knoxville Visitors Center, where you'll find gifts, snacks and area info. Built in 1925, this building first housed Kuhlman's Store and became the visitors center in 2004. If you're here at noon, stick around for the world-famous Blue Plate Special, WDVX's live radio broadcast and experience both unknown talents as well as legends such as Bela Fleck.

Created in 1997, the WDVX "Blue Plate Special" program started broadcasting the same year, as a community public radio station from a 14-foot camper studio in Norris, Tennessee. In 2004, the Blue Plate Special started producing live shows in front of an audience at its new home in the Knoxville Visitors Center. The program is now a signature of downtown Knoxville and East Tennessee. Blues to bluegrass, country to Celtic, folk to funk, rockabilly to hillbilly, local to international, award-winning WDVX radio station offers daily concerts and streams lunchtime Americana music and roots worldwide.
