Russell Smith Pathways Marker

Russell Smith is a singer and songwriter from Nashville. He led the Amazing Rhythm Aces country rock group, who scored a Tip 20 pop hit in 1975 with Smith's song, "Third Rate Romance." He later became a successful country songwriter. He wrote hit songs for Tanya Tucker, Mel McDaniel, Don Williams, Graham Brown and Ricky Van Shelton. Many others recorded his songs, with "Third Rate Romance" recorded by Earl Scruggs, Rosanne Cash and Sammy Kershaw (a No. 2 country hit).
