If you've ever wondered what it would be like to live on a farm, pack up the family and spend a day at Lucky Ladd Farms in Eagleville. Located just under an hour's drive southeast of Nashville in Rutherford County, Lucky Ladd Farms is a 60-acre working farm that invites visitors to make family memories interacting with hundreds of animals, exploring nature trails, taking a pony or wagon ride, zipping down a mega slide and so much more.
Owners Jason and Amy Ladd grow a kaleidoscope of crops throughout the year, from tulips and strawberries to sunflowers, pumpkins and corn. They opened their farm to the public as an agri-tourism destination in 2009.
"We have farm animals like sheep, goats and rabbits as well as more exotic animals like llamas and alpacas," Amy Ladd says. "People love seeing our Scottish Highland cows and our miniature cattle that are not even 30 inches tall. We have horses and donkeys too."
In the midst of all the fun and games, the Ladds put a lot of emphasis on education in an effort to connect families with agriculture.
"We try to help people understand where food and fiber comes from," Amy Ladd says. "Farming is where our heart and history is. We host lots of events throughout the year related to what we grow. Our most popular time is pumpkins in the fall, but our spring tulips have the potential to even surpass it this year."
