Haywood County's most famous native, Anna Mae Bullock, is known worldwide as Tina Turner. Her hometown of Nutbush and the Flagg Grove School project are near and dear to her heart. When Tina speaks of the beauty of the farmland around Nutbush, she remembers walking to Flagg Grove School with her sister and classmates. The school's restoration project began in June 2012 when the school was donated and moved to the Delta Heritage Center. It is now home to the world's only Tina Turner Museum.

The school was built in 1889 on land donated by Benjamin Flagg, Turner's great-uncle, making Flagg Grove School not only the school she attended but a part of her family's legacy. Turner's involvement with the project includes memorabilia and displays. Her public introduction began in 1960 as a member of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, with success following as a string of hits including "Proud Mary," "Nutbush City Limits" and "River Deep--Mountain High."

The undisputed Queen of Rock 'n' Roll is a singer, dancer, actress and author, whose career has spanned more than half a century, earning recognition and eight Grammy awards. Rolling Stone names her as "one of the greatest singers of all time." Her public introduction began in 1960 as a member of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, success following with a string of hits including "Proud Mary," "Nutbush City Limits, "River Deep--Mountain High" and "What's Love Got to Do With It."
