In the heart of every seed, there’s a story — a tale that travels from the fields and pastures to the bustling marketplaces, resonating with the toil and passion of farmers and the enduring vibrancy of nature. Agriculture, a cornerstone of civilization, is not just about cultivating crops but also about our farmers.
This project began with Peggy Douglas’ visit with Larry Mitchell, UT/TSU Extension agent for Meigs County and Paulette Jones, Director of Meigs County Historical Society. The goal was to collect and document oral histories of a diverse group of Meigs County farmers, stewarding land for a better tomorrow that could inspire future farmers to stay connected to farming in a productive, profitable, and sustainable way.
