JANUARY 2023: The history of Dyer County's railroads will be the subject of a Dyer County Bicentennial event, on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023, at 2 pm, in the Newbern Depot.
Museum operator Lynn Willis will present in photos, writings and artifacts how railroads have been a part of the county's development. It's not just laying track, and running trains. At times, it has been a tedious effort between investors, local government officials, and national railroad companies.
The talk is open to the public, and the Newbern Depot Museum will be open at 1 pm prior to the event, with model trains running, as well as display railroad and local Newbern history.
The talk is part of the Dyer County Historical Society's bicentennial celebration, which will culminate with a big event at the Dyer County Courthouse, on Oct. 16, 2023.
