Cowan Railroad Museum is currently closed for the winter.  We will re-open in May 2021, and hope to see you then.

Cowan Railroad Museum features photos, relics, and memorabilia from the age of steam and steel located in a 1904 train depot listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The depot itself features a model railroad layout and a photo exhibition of area industry. The museum grounds feature a rare Porter-type steam locomotive, a diesel-electric switch locomotive, boxcar, flatcar, rare NC&StL caboose as well as NC&StL diesel locomotive and boxcar. The museum is only steps away from shops and restaurants. The University of the South is only seven miles away. Falls Mill and Jack Daniels Distillery are less than an hour's drive.

Admission: $2 adults, $1 student, Maximum $5 per family. Always free to active military , school groups (with advance RSVP), and of course, our members.

Annual membership $20; all donations go directly to keeping the doors open and the lights on!

Fall Heritage Festival, third weekend of September. Three days of Arts & Crafts, Music, History presentations, Kids Zone and more. Free.
