The Smoky Mountain Music Festival continues its dedication to excellence by offering young musicians an opportunity to demonstrate their talents before prestigious adjudicators in a beautiful setting. For over 30 years the festival has drawn musical groups from over 29 states and Canada.
The Smoky Mountain Music Festival originated in 1983. More than 6500 groups from 29 states and Canada have participated in choral, band and orchestra events. The Smoky Mountain Music Festival has developed into one of the nation's most exciting and educational festivals. Over 50% of our groups are repeat participants. We feel our success can be directly attributed to the following:

The Gatlinburg Convention Center is used for concert, jazz, indoor auxiliary competition and choral competition, and the main street is blocked off for the parade of bands.
