A lighthearted conversation between Miranda Whitcomb Pontes and a friend in late 2008 precipitated the idea of Burger Up. That conversation began with small talk about what kind of business would fit well at the corner of 12th and Paris, leading to talk of a quality burger place that would be a community-driven restaurant. A place welcoming people of all ages, and where they would feel at home. A place to take the kids out to dinner, and also appropriate for a business lunch, a first date, an anniversary. A mere 18 short months later, the doors of Burger Up swung open for the community to enjoy.
