Learn more about Nelson's Green Brier Distillery.
Once the largest producer of Tennessee Whiskey in the world, Nelson's Green Brier Distillery closed due to prohibition and did not reopen until the great-great-great-grandsons of the founder, Charles Nelson, rediscovered their family's rich whiskey heritage and brought the business back to life.
Charlie and Andy Nelson stumbled upon the story of the pre-prohibition disitllery in 2006 when passing through Greenbrier, TN. It was then and there that they decided to resurrect Tennessee's original whiskey. Reopening to the public in 2014, the distillery offers tours and tastings year-round.
On July 1st, 2017, Nelson's Green Brier Distillery launched the original recipe in the form of Nelson's First 108. Available only in the gift shop, this 2-year aged product is made according to Charles Nelson's original Tennessee Whiskey from before Prohibition. A blend of corn, wheat, and malted barley, Nelson's First 108 is filtered through charcoal and aged in charred white oak barrels.
