Turn R on E. Hill Ave. Turn R on State St., to pt. 13. Organized in 1792, this was Knoxville's first church and is still located on its original site. The property was once a turnip patch belonging to James White, founder of Knoxville, who reserved this site for "a church and a burying ground." The oldest grave is that of territorial Governor William Blount (March 1800). His wife, Mary Grainger, is also buried here, as well as James White.
