The first dam built by the Tennessee Valley Authority in 1936 for flood control and to bring efficient electrical power to East Tennessee. Norris Dam is 265 feet high and stretches 1,860 feet across the Clinch River. Visitors can enjoy the views of the mountains and valley surrounding the dam at the overlooks, trails and informational centers.
