Cheatham County was created by an act of the Tennessee General Assembly passed February 28, 1856. The county is named after Edward S. Cheatham, who was speaker of the State Senate. The county courthouse was built in Ashland City in 1869 and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Each small town in Cheatham has its own charm. But don't let the word "small" fool you. We serve everything from ice cream to sushi, kayaking to zip lining, saddles to antiques, music to art events. Of course, the best thing we serve up is hospitality with a genuine smile.
Make Cheatham County your destination for big things in small packages.
