Rippavilla Plantation boasts an Antebellum Greek Revival style mansion (built circa 1855 by the Cheairs family), separate 1851 outbuildings, an 1850's barn, a family and slave cemetery, and a Freedmen's Bureau school. In 1864, history landed in the Cheairs family's backyard as the Battle of Spring Hill was fought in the fields surrounding the house. The house became a field hospital and focal point in the area during this time. The rich history of the family, the battle, and the aftermath are shared today in our guided house tours.
